Breyer Horse Strike Out
The Canadian-owned Standardbred pacer Strike Out may well have been named Stand Out due to his track record and unusual chestnut coloring. In 1972, he won the Little Brown Jug, setting a record that stood until 1977. He was twice named champion pacer of his age, and in 1976 he joined the Standardbred Hall of Fame. Breyer Horse Bucephalus Horses in History Series
Breyer presents a great addition to their Horses in History Series. Alexander the Great was the outstanding military leader of his age, extending the Greek Empire into Egypt and east to the borders of India. His chosen mount was Bucephalus, meaning oxhead. This particularly large horse had a black coat and a white star on his forehead. Bucephalus was 30 years old the last time Alexander rode him into battle and at the end of the day, the great horse died from his wounds. Alexander buried his mount with full military honors and founded the city of Bucephalia on the site.
